Retirement Plan Professionals See the Big Picture at NIPA's 2009NAFE
The 2009 NIPA Annual Forum & Expo (2009NAFE) gathered hundreds of retirement plan professionals, April 26-29 at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino. The annual event brought together the industry's brightest minds for four days of relevant education and valuable networking opportunities. From impacts of recent or forthcoming legislation, to the latest industry developments and future trends, NIPA's unique event was the place to be to see the Big Picture.
Information on surviving and thriving in the current economic climate and changes to Form 5500 were just a few of the NAFE's highlights. Additional features included:
- More than 25 educational sessions focused on pressing issues faced day-to-day;
- Leading industry experts sharing comprehensive knowledge on the latest trends, challenges and achievements;
- Top industry vendors displaying cutting-edge products and services in the Exposition Hall; and
- Numerous social networking events.
Craig Hoffman, Esq., SunGard Relius, educated attendees on the latest legislative and regulatory updates during his general session on Monday, and Dr. Quincy Krosby, Chief Investment Strategist, The Hartford, presented
Understanding the Economy and Navigating the Markets - How market fundamentals and macroeconomic and geopolitical events affect the investment landscape in Tuesday morning's general session. Marilyn Moats-Kennedy rounded out the NAFE's general sessions with her presentation Managing Change: Understanding the Demographics to NAFE attendees Tuesday afternoon.
An Awards Luncheon was held on Tuesday to recognize NIPA's 2009 award recipients. Robert M. Kaplan, APA, CFP, CPC, vice president, National Training Consultant, ING, Thornwood, N.Y., received the Lifetime Achievement Award (pictured left with NIPA President, Theresa Conti , APR, QKA) and Cheryl L. Morgan, CPC, QKA, AIFA, Morgan Consulting Services, San Francisco, Calif., received the Excellence in Education Award. Additionally, Chip Ward, Executive Pension Services, Ltd., Columbia, S.C., and Darren P. Holsey, APA, QKA, senior consultant, Premier Retirement Services, Inc., Wilsonville, Ore., were co-recipients of NIPA's Outstanding Volunteer Award. NIPA's new Accredited Pension Administrators (APA) and Accredited Pension Representatives (APR) were also recognized during this annual celebration.
